Privacy
todoless is built on a simple idea: your family’s daily life isn’t a product. There’s no ad network, no analytics dashboard tracking your habits, and no business model built around your data — because there’s no subscription and nothing to sell. Self-hosting means the app and its data live on hardware you control, not a company’s cloud, and we aim to keep third parties out of that picture wherever we reasonably can. todoless is developed in Europe with that principle in mind; this is our design philosophy and ongoing commitment, not a legal or compliance certification.
What self-hosting means for your data
Self-hosting simply means todoless runs on a computer you own — a home server, a NAS, or a small device like a Raspberry Pi — instead of on someone else’s cloud. You set it up once using Docker, a standard and well-documented way to run apps, following a step-by-step guide. After that, it works day to day just like any other app in your browser or on your phone. There’s no subscription fee and no company holding your account: you’re in charge of the server, the backups, and the data. If you’re comfortable following a guided setup, you’re ready to self-host todoless.
Known limitations today
todoless currently supports a single family/household per install and does not yet have multi-factor authentication. We believe in being upfront about this rather than overselling security we have not yet built.
