About & FAQ

todoless was conceived and built in Europe, with data ownership as a first principle.

What is todoless?

todoless is a self-hosted family organizer that brings shared tasks, a calendar, and a grocery list into one app you run yourself, instead of a cloud service run by someone else.

Do I need to be technical to use it?

Setting up the server means following a guided, step-by-step installation using Docker. Once it’s running, using todoless day to day is as simple as any task or calendar app.

Is todoless really free?

Yes. todoless is free to use, with no subscriptions and no paid tiers. You only need somewhere to run it — your own server, NAS, or a device like a Raspberry Pi.

Can my whole family use it?

Yes. Everyone in your household gets their own account. You can invite family members, share tasks and the grocery list together, and keep certain items personal and private. Right now, todoless supports one family or household per install.

How does todoless handle privacy?

Because you host it yourself, your family’s data stays on your own server rather than a third-party cloud. There are no ads and no tracking built into the product’s business model, and we aim to minimize reliance on third parties wherever possible.

What’s coming next?

We’re working on deeper integrations — like Home Assistant, Paperless-ngx, external calendars, and messaging apps — plus support for multiple households and additional account security such as multi-factor authentication. These are part of our roadmap, not available yet.
